Just as in Windows XP, you can send a fax through your Windows Vista computer also. Windows Vista does not have The Windows Fax and Scan component installed in it. You must manually install and configure Windows Fax and Scan to send faxes from a client computer that is running Windows Vista. To provide the computer users a fast way to fax important documents without having to buy any stand alone fax machine, this popular feature has been handed over to Vista operating system from earlier operating systems.

Follow these Microsoft help instructions to start sending fax easily in your Vista computer.

Microsoft help instructions to send fax in Vista

Connect the dial-up modem to your computer. Make sure that the phone line is securely connected to the computer.

On your Windows Vista computer, click on the “Start” button or the “Windows orb” at the bottom left corner of the screen, choose “All Programs” and then click on Windows Fax and Scan“.

The Fax Setup Wizard will appear if you haven’t sent a fax before and it is the first time now that you are attempting the feature. To set up your computer to send and receive faxes, follow the on-screen instructions.

Click “Tools“. When the fax program opens, select “Fax Accounts” in the dropdown menu and to complete the process of

establishing the fax connection, click on “Add“.

Select “New Fax” on the toolbar to send a fax. When the window opens to send a new fax, enter the recipient details and fax number. The “To” field in the fax window is linked to addresses stored in Outlook or in the Windows Address Book to make it easy for you to select your contact’s fax number to enter in this field. If a contact to which you want to send the fax is not there on your Outlook address book or Outlook Contact list, then you should be entering the name and number of the recipient manually.

Then you can enter your Fax message and hit “Send” button.

After you hit Send, your fax shall be sent to the recipient in the ‘To’ field.

So, that’s how the Microsoft help team instructs you to send fax through your Windows vista computer. Ciao!
